Welcome to Spice Surtarang
Spice Surtarang is a National Singing Talent Hunt organised by
the Sangam Kala Group (SKG). The Group is a prominent non-commercial registered
cultural group that provides a platform to identify and promote budding singing
talent in India. Sangam Kala Group (SKG) has been conducting this Singing Talent
Hunt for more than 30 years now.
Sangam Kala Group has empanelled renowned Music Directors and Composers from the world of music including radio, television and films as part of the panel of judges to select the best singing talent. SKG also offers scholarships to educate promising voices in light music. Some of the past participants who are now leading playback singers are Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. Other well-known winners of this contest in the past includes Reality Music Show participants, such as Harshit, Vineet, Toshi, Ishmeet, Aakriti Kakkar, Aabhas, etc.
Spice Digital had sponsored this event in year 2009 and the grand finale was held at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi. Spice Digital are the main event sponsors this year as well and have introduced the concept of nation wide Mobile Auditions for the first time in India. This will provide immense reach to people even in far flung areas across the country to participate in the contest and showcase their talent.
About Spice Surtarang Contest
This contest will have regional rounds held at more than 60 centers across the country. This will be preceded by Mobile Audition Round whereby aspiring singers can record their songs and stand a chance to get short listed for the Regional Rounds.
There are 3 age group categories for participation:
- Sub Junior (5-12 yrs)
- Junior (12-18yrs)
- Senior (18-28yrs)
It selects best 18 singers selected to perform in the finals.
This year Spice Digital is the main sponsor for the event Spice Surtarang and
would be organizing the Mobile Auditions throughout India.
How to participate in the contest
The participants would be calling on a short code 54321333, and through an IVR service, he/she would be directed towards the voice recording system. Then the files would be compiled and sent to Sangam Kala Group judges panel, for further processing and declaration of audition results. Learn more
